Mark Parish Council
What have the Romans ever done for us?” – (a quote from an amazingly far-sighted film from 1979. If you do not know the reference, then please look at the footnote)
Mark Parish Council would like to end 2025 with thanks to those members of the Village of Mark, the Parish and those friends of the Parish who have contributed in so many ways as to how we have faced and dealt with 2025.
There are only a few salaried posts assigned to and performed by people dedicated to the good of Mark Parish. We thank them for their efforts.
It therefore falls that the vast majority of functions which make Mark such a lovely place in which to live and work fall on the wonderful people who spend an inordinate amount of their time volunteering to make the place so much better.
We are so lucky to have so many active, vibrant organisations ranging from:
A Baby & Toddler group onto Badminton and Bowling Groups, the Cricket Club, a Table Tennis Club, the wonderful Mark Youth Theatre and of course onto the extremely popular Women’s Institute.
We are able to use the excellent Church, its Hall and the Village Hall for varied events. It should be noted that the Community Association are actively fund raising and keen to hold even more events for the benefit of the Community.
We have volunteers who staff Neighbourhood Watch and Speedwatch teams to try to help the Parish to be a safer community.
We have the excellent Mark Parish Magazine provided and distributed each month by wonderful volunteers.
The Parish Council itself consists of eight members of the Parish aided by an excellent Clerk who all give up time to fulfil their role.
All of these activities only succeed due to the involvement of people keen to make them succeed. It is also fair to say that most, if not all, of our local organisations would welcome new members who are keen to get involved.
Thanks again to all who have made Mark such an interesting place this year.
(The film reference? “Monty Python’s life of Brian.”)
The Parish Council would like to wish all our Parishioners a Happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year and thank you for all your support throughout the year.
Danny Kehoe
Chairman, Mark Parish Council
